Design Approach:
The process begins with assembling children’s building blocks in a tetrahedral form to
create a three-dimensional object. All sides of the blocks are numbered so they can be
used to create a flat, paper pattern (a maquette). The maquette is then visually
disassembled to create the pattern on grid paper so the pattern can be more easily
created. The scale version is numbered, the shapes are cut out, the scores folded, and
the pieces are assembled to confirm the calculations were correct and result in the
desired form.
